Nancy Bourell
Nancy has been singing since she was three years old. She prepared for a future in music by taking voice and piano in high school and college, and she performed in the musicals Oklahoma, South Pacific, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Camelot amoung others. Nancy was bitten by the Sweet Adelines' bug in 1986 when she joined the Lone Star Chorus in Austin. In addition to Lone Star Chorus, she has sung with Texas Star Chorus, Alamo Metro Chorus, and is one of the founders of the Austin Harmony Chorus (AH!). She has served on the music staff as lead section leader in both AMC and AH! In the quartet arena, she has sung with Star Connection, Jam Session, Top Billing, Musical Persuasion and Intrigue, placing in the top five in regional competitions in seven years.
Nancy served as assistant director of AH! in 2005 and 2006, and stepped up as interim director when AH!'s director moved out of state in 2006. Nancy is eager to learn as much about directing as she has about singing. She is enrolled in the director's track at Sweet Adelines International Educational Symposium, and looks forward to benefiting from Marcy's years of experience.

Marcy Scofield
Austin Harmony is thrilled to have Master Director Marcy Scofield as our associate director for competitions. Marcy has been involved in the Sweet Adelines world for 32 years as a singer and a director. Her awards include numerous regional chorus championship medals, five regional quartet championships and four appearances in the International quartet finals.
With our regular director on an extended trip to Japan, we asked Marcy to come out of “retirement” and lead us through the 2007 Regional Competition. Happily, despite the challenge of a weekly trip from San Antonio for rehearsals, she agreed. The exciting result was a fourth place medal in only our second time on the competition stage. Even more exciting is the fact that Marcy has agreed to come back for the 2008 competition. “The experience was fulfilling and gratifying,” Marcy said. “I am honored to be part of a great group of women…who worked tirelessly and professionally toward a goal. I look forward to another competition experience next April.”
Marcy has been married to husband, Jan (also a barbershopper), for 28 years. They met when his district championship quartet performed on a show in Austin. Marcy and Jan both say they are delighted to be a part of the Austin Harmony Chorus family. We are doubly delighted because we are getting two exceptional talents for the price of one.
